What should I know about restaurant uniforms?
The short guide.
What a service shift does to a garment
Eight to twelve hours of movement, heat, and contact with food and cleaning products, followed by a hot wash. That cycle finds every weakness: collars go first, then prints, then colour. Specifying for it means embroidery rather than print, a knit that holds its shape, and a colour chosen to hide what the shift will do to it.
Front of house and back of house are different problems
Front of house is seen by customers, so it is about looking specified and staying presentable through a shift. Back of house is about heat, safety and washing out. The same colours can run across both while the garments differ, which is usually the right answer and is one order rather than two.
Aprons and caps
An apron takes the damage that would otherwise reach the uniform, which makes it the cheapest thing in the order to replace and the most important to get right. Caps are usually required rather than chosen, and embroidery is the only finish on a cap that survives a kitchen.

Can uniforms be ready before our opening?
Dispatch is 4 to 30 days from approving the mockup. Send the opening date with the logo and the dispatch date comes in writing with the mockup, so you can plan back from it.
Can new staff get a matching uniform later?
Yes. The specification is saved, so a reorder for new joiners matches the garment, colour and logo the rest of the team wears.
Can the kitchen's chef coats go on the same order?
Yes. Chef coats run on the same order and invoice as the floor team's polos, in the same palette.
What uniform works best for restaurant staff?
Polos or t-shirts in mid tones, embroidered rather than printed, with aprons taking the wear. Back of house is specified separately for heat and washing.
Why embroidery rather than printing?
Hospitality washing is hot and frequent. Prints crack and lift under it. Thread does not.
Can front and back of house be on one order?
Yes, as separate specifications in the same colours, on one order and one invoice.
