Designing for the camera
On a stream, a player is seen from the chest up in a small webcam frame, so the logo and sponsors on the chest and shoulders do almost all the work. The back is only seen on stage or in photos. Very fine stripes can shimmer on camera, and large areas of pure white can overexpose under stage lights, so a strong, simple design reads better than a detailed one.
Cut for sitting, not sprinting
Players sit for hours in air-conditioned rooms and under hot stage lights, often in the same day. A tee cut with sleeves suits that better than an athletic sleeveless shape, and a light, breathable polyester stays comfortable through a long series. Long sleeves are an option for teams that play in cold venues.
Coaches, casters and supporters
The team is rarely just the players. Coaches, managers and content staff often want the same jersey with a role instead of a tag, and supporters want one to wear in the crowd. Add them to the set at the start, so the whole group is designed and approved together.
