Every sport has its own jersey, and the differences are not just tradition. They come from how the game is played: how much you run, how hot it is, whether you dive, and whether the referee needs to tell players apart at a glance. Here is what usually works, sport by sport.
What changes from sport to sport
Four choices make most of the difference:
- Neck: polo collar, round neck or V-neck.
- Sleeves: full, half or none.
- Cut: loose, regular or fitted.
- Fabric: smooth knit for sharp print, mesh for air, often both on one jersey.
Almost every modern team jersey is polyester, because it dries fast, keeps its shape and takes sublimation. See which fabric is best for a sports jersey.
Cricket
Cricket jerseys have the most choice, because the game is played in so many formats.
- Collar: a polo collar is traditional and suits club and longer formats. A round neck is lighter and common in T20 and box cricket.
- Sleeves: full sleeves protect the arms in a long day in the sun. Half sleeves are cooler and more common in short formats. Many teams order both.
- Cut: regular, with room across the shoulders for bowling and throwing.
- With it: matching trousers for limited overs, whites for longer formats.

Football
Football is ninety minutes of running, so lightness and air come first.
- Neck: round neck or V-neck. A collar is rare on the pitch today.
- Sleeves: short sleeves for outfield players. Goalkeepers often wear long sleeves for diving.
- Cut: regular or slightly fitted, so the shirt cannot be easily grabbed.
- Fabric: light polyester, often with mesh panels at the sides and back.
- Goalkeeper: must wear a colour that stands apart from both teams and the referee. Order the keeper jersey in its own colour with the rest of the set.
- With it: shorts and socks in matching or contrasting colours.
Basketball
Basketball jerseys are sleeveless so the arms move freely for shooting and passing.
- Cut: a vest with deep armholes and a longer body, so it stays tucked into the shorts.
- Fabric: light, often mesh, because indoor courts get hot.
- Numbers: large on the front and the back, because officials call fouls by number.
- With it: long, loose shorts in matching colours. Some teams add a reversible practice vest.

Esports
An esports jersey is worn sitting down, indoors, and on camera. That changes everything.
- Cut: fitted or regular, so it looks sharp on a webcam and on stage.
- Sleeves: usually half sleeve; full sleeve is popular for a pro look.
- Fabric: smooth knit rather than mesh, so small sponsor logos and fine detail print sharply.
- Names: the player's gamer tag, not the surname, usually across the back and sometimes on the sleeve or chest.
- Design: bolder patterns and more sponsors are normal. The jersey is part of the team's brand on stream.
Kabaddi
Kabaddi is a contact sport. Players grab, tackle and hold, so the jersey has to fit close to the body.
- Cut: fitted, often a close half sleeve or sleeveless top, with nothing loose for an opponent to hold.
- Fabric: stretchy polyester that moves with the body and survives being pulled.
- Numbers: clear on the front and back for the officials.
Volleyball
Volleyball is jumping and diving on a small court.
- Cut: fitted or slightly fitted, short sleeve or sleeveless.
- Fabric: light and stretchy.
- Numbers: front and back, clear and large.
- Libero: under the usual rules, the libero wears a jersey in a contrasting colour to the rest of the team. Order it with the set.
Other sports
For any sport, ask four questions:
1. How much running? More running means lighter fabric and more mesh. 2. How much contact? More contact means a closer fit. 3. Indoor or outdoor? Outdoors in India means thinking about sun and sleeves. 4. Do the officials need numbers? If so, make them big, plain and high contrast.
Mixing styles in one order
Many teams need more than one style: playing jerseys, a goalkeeper or libero jersey, and something for coaches and staff. Keeping the same design across all of them makes the whole group look like one team. Our jerseys are sublimated in our own factory in India, in any colours, from one jersey: ₹599 half sleeve and ₹699 full sleeve, with sleeveless jerseys priced on a quote. Quick answers
What jersey style is best for cricket?
A polo collar for club and longer formats, a round neck for T20 and box cricket. Full sleeves protect the arms in the sun; half sleeves are cooler. Many teams order both.
Why are basketball jerseys sleeveless?
So the arms and shoulders move freely for shooting and passing. The vest has deep armholes and a longer body that stays tucked into the shorts.
What should an esports jersey look like?
Fitted or regular, usually in smooth knit so sponsor logos print sharply, with the player's gamer tag on the back. It is made to look good on camera and on stage rather than to run in.
Does the goalkeeper need a different jersey?
In football, yes. The goalkeeper must wear a colour that stands apart from both teams and the referee. In volleyball the libero also wears a contrasting colour. Order these with the rest of the set.
