A hoodie is the most worn piece of team clothing there is, and the most expensive to get wrong. Decide these five things first.
1. Pullover or zip
- Pullover: the classic, with a front pouch pocket and a clean chest for a logo. Best for colleges and merch.
- Zip: easier to wear over a work shirt and in an air-conditioned office. The zip splits the chest, so the logo goes on the left chest or the back.
2. Embroidery or print
- Embroidery suits a hoodie's heavier fabric and reads as premium. Best for a small chest logo on company and leadership hoodies. See embroidered hoodies.
- Print suits large designs, back prints and many colours: college names, batch years, event art.
Many orders combine both: an embroidered chest logo and a printed back.
3. Where the logo goes
Left chest for work, centre chest for a college or club, full back for a batch or event, sleeve for a year or a second logo. The hood itself can carry a small mark on the side.
4. Sizes
Hoodies are bought to be layered, so many people prefer one size up. Order one sample in the most common size, let people try it, and collect sizes on a sheet with names. Adults run XS to 5XL.
5. Timing
A hoodie order is usually for a date: the start of winter, a fest, a farewell, a December offsite. Dispatch is 4 to 30 days from approving the mockup, so work back from the day.
For colleges
Batch and farewell hoodies carry a lot of names. Send the list as a sheet, check spellings on the mockup, and decide early whether everyone's name goes on the back. See college hoodies.
