Where can a design go on our hoodies?
Our hoodie builder has four places: the front, the back, and each sleeve. The front print on the pullover goes up to A4, because the kangaroo pocket sits below it. The back is the big canvas. On the zipper hoodie the print cannot cross the zip, so the front becomes a left chest and a right chest, one either side.
Beyond the print, the hood, the hood lining, the cuffs and waistband and the pocket can each be a second colour.
1. Small chest logo, big back
The most worn hoodie design there is. An embroidered logo on the left chest, up to 4 inches, and a large print across the back. The front looks like a good hoodie; the back says who you are.
Method and cost: embroidery on the chest, from ₹50 to ₹60 a logo at 1 to 9 pieces, with ₹300 once to digitise the logo on orders under 100. DTF on the back, ₹265 for A3 at 1 to 9 pieces.
2. Back only
A plain front and everything on the back. It suits college batches and crews who want the hoodie to look like a brand, not a uniform. Put the main line high on the back, between the shoulder blades, where it is seen above a backpack.
Method: DTF for full colour, from A4 to A3. Screen printing if it is one or two flat colours on a big run.
3. Batch year
For colleges: the department or club name across the back, "Class of 2027" or the batch year under it, and the college crest small on the chest. The year is what makes a college hoodie worth keeping after graduation.
Keep the year large and the department smaller. Nobody reads a long department name from across a canteen.
4. Name on the back
Each hoodie with its own name across the shoulders: a team, a college crew, an office team that wants their own. With DTF there is no screen to change between pieces, so every hoodie can be different in one order.
Send the names as a list, spelt the way each person spells them, and check every one on the mockup.
5. Tone on tone
The logo in a shade close to the hoodie itself: charcoal on black, navy on navy, cream on off white. It reads as premium and gets worn outside work, because it does not shout. Embroidery is the classic way to do it, with a thread one or two shades from the fleece.
Tone on tone needs a bold, simple mark. Fine detail disappears when the contrast is low.
6. Sleeve mark
A small wordmark, a year or a hashtag on one sleeve, as the second design to a chest or back print. It adds detail without adding noise. Embroidery on a sleeve goes up to 3 inches, from ₹35 to ₹40 at 1 to 9 pieces.
7. Contrast hood lining
The lining inside the hood in a second colour: lime inside a black hoodie, white inside navy. It shows every time the hood is down, which is most of the time. With no print at all, it makes a plain hoodie look designed.
A contrast part moves the order from our 4 day tier to 12 days, so plan for it.
8. Contrast hood, cuffs and pocket
Go further: the whole hood, the cuffs and waistband, or the pocket in a second colour. A college colour on the hood and cuffs with the main colour on the body is a varsity look without a varsity jacket. Keep it to two colours; three starts to look like a costume.
9. Oversized with a big back
On our oversized hoodie, with its dropped shoulder and wider body, a large back print has room to breathe. It suits creator merch, college drops and anyone who wants the hoodie to look like streetwear. Leave the front plain or put a small mark on the chest.
What does a hoodie design cost?

| + A4 front print, DTF | ₹145 | ₹105 |
| + A3 back print, DTF | ₹265 | ₹190 |
The Classic Hoodie is 300 GSM combed cotton fleece. The Classic Zipper Hoodie is ₹1,410 and the Classic Oversized Hoodie, a 350 GSM cotton and polyester fleece, is ₹1,315 at 1 to 9 pieces. Digitising an embroidered logo is ₹300 once, free from 100 pieces.
Five rules for a hoodie people keep
1. One loud place, not three. A big back or a big front, not both. 2. Thick lines. Fleece is soft; very fine lines lose their edge. 3. Two or three colours. It looks better and, for screen printing, costs less. 4. Check the pocket. On the pullover, keep the front design above the kangaroo pocket. 5. Order one first. One hoodie is a real order. Wear it for a week before ordering sixty.
