The four sizes in centimetres
| Size | Up to | Typical use | 1 to 9 pcs | 100+ pcs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A6 | 10.5 × 14.8 cm | Left chest logo, sleeve, back neck | ₹50 | ₹35 |
| A5 | 14.8 × 21 cm | Bold chest print, upper back logo | ₹80 | ₹60 |
| A4 | 21 × 29.7 cm | Front graphic, back line, hoodie front | ₹145 | ₹105 |
| A3 | 29.7 × 42 cm | Full back, big front | ₹265 | ₹190 |
Prices are per print, per side, before GST, and they fall in steps at 10, 25, 50 and 100 pieces. A front and a back are two prints.
How does my design get its size?
By the smallest size it fits inside, either way round. A logo 9 cm wide and 4 cm tall fits inside A6, so it is an A6 print. A logo 16 cm wide and 10 cm tall fits inside A5 turned on its side, so it is A5. A design 25 by 18 cm needs A4, and anything over 21 by 29.7 cm is A3.
It is the size the art prints at that counts, not the size of the file. The same logo can be an A6 on the chest and an A3 on the back; you pay for each at its own size.
Where does each size sit?
A6. The left chest, over the heart, a logo about the width of a palm. Also the sleeve and the back of the neck. The size most company shirts use.
A5. A centre chest print that is clearly a design, not a badge. Or a logo high on the upper back, between the shoulder blades.
A4. The front graphic on an event or launch tee. A line of text across the upper back. Also the largest front print on our pullover hoodie, because the kangaroo pocket sits below it.
A3. The whole back: a team name and number, a list of sponsors, a big illustration. It can also go on the front, where it reads as a statement.
How big does each size look on a small and a large t-shirt?
A print of a given size is the same number of centimetres on every shirt, so it looks bigger on a small shirt and smaller on a large one. Using our regular fit chart, measured flat, the shirt is about 48 cm across the chest in S and about 61 cm across in 3XL:
| Width | Share of an S chest | Share of a 3XL chest | |
|---|---|---|---|
| A6 | 10.5 cm | about a fifth | about a sixth |
| A5 | 14.8 cm | about a third | about a quarter |
| A4 | 21 cm | a little under half | about a third |
| A3 | 29.7 cm | about 60% | about half |
So an A3 back fills most of the back of an S and leaves a margin on a 3XL. That is usually what you want. If your order runs from S to 3XL, picture the print on both ends before you choose the size.
How do I pick the right size?
1. Start from where it goes. Left chest: A6. Back line: A4. Full back: A3. Choose the place first and the size follows. 2. Read it from across a room. Small text that is fine on a screen disappears at A6. If the tagline matters, give it A5 or move it to the back. 3. One big, one small. A small chest print and a big back print look designed. Two big prints look loud. 4. Do not stretch a small file. An A3 print needs artwork large enough for A3: a vector file, or an image that is still sharp at 29.7 by 42 cm.
What about embroidery sizes?
Embroidery is sized in inches, by the longest side of the logo, and priced from a light design to a dense fill:
| Place | Up to | 1 to 9 pcs |
|---|---|---|
| Sleeve | 3 inches, about 7.6 cm | ₹35 to ₹40 |
| Left chest | 4 inches, about 10.2 cm | ₹50 to ₹60 |
| Front | 7 inches, about 17.8 cm | ₹75 to ₹95 |
| Back | 10 inches, about 25.4 cm | ₹110 to ₹145 |
Digitising is ₹300 once per design on orders under 100 pieces, and free from 100. Embroidery on the front stops at 7 inches.
What does a whole t-shirt cost?
The garment plus each print. A Classic Crewneck is ₹415 at 1 to 9 pieces. With an A6 chest logo it is ₹465; add an A3 back and it is ₹730. At 100 pieces and more the same shirt with both prints is ₹295 + ₹35 + ₹190 = ₹520. GST and shipping are added. The full breakdown by quantity is in what custom t-shirt printing costs.
For where each position sits and why, see where to put a logo on a t-shirt. The steps from an idea to an approved mockup are in how to design a custom t-shirt.
When you know the size, send the design on custom t-shirt printing and the mockup shows it on the shirt at the size it will print.
